The MAA MAAT Cultural Centre - Temple of Maat and Shrine of Mami Wata And The MAA MAAT Community Interest CompanyThe aim of the MAA MAAT Cultural Centre - Temple of Maat and Shrine of Mami Wata via the MAA MAAT Community Interest Company, is to establish a community space that serves as a hub for local community groups, offering facilities such as a community centre, bookshop, cultural museum, and archive centre. This initiative seeks over time to be a hub for state-of-the-art facilities that will enable the Centre via the Afrikan community, to deliver projects and activities. These projects and activities will transmit to current and future generations of the Afrikan community in the UK and internationally, our Ancient/traditional knowledge and practice of African Art, Sciences and Spirituality. In order for African People to celebrate and preserve the history and achievements of the local and global Afrikan Community. In the immediate future, the centre is dedicated to supporting, empowering, and fostering the growth of these community groups, facilitating sustainable activities that contribute to a unified Afrikan community. Central to the centre’s mission is the enhancement of various aspects within the local community, including: increased school attendance positive behaviour in educational settings promotion of healthier lifestyles bolstering youth confidence and self-esteem nurturing a positive youth culture fostering self-respect enhancing literacy cultivating emotional intelligence, and overall fostering a sense of knowledge and self-worth

Phillip Murphy is a retired public servant who served as an elected Councillor of Birmingham City Council for twenty years. He was the first and youngest Black Cabinet member of the council. He has an academic background in philosophy, politics, and social sciences and has been involved with community organizations, development, and anti-racism activism for over fifty years. His interests include music, football, literature, and traveling, and he is happily married with three daughters and two grandchildren.
